11 tips to make your fundraising page successful
COME IN ACTION!
Having a party? Farewell reception? Wedding? Do not ask for gifts but a donation for your fundraiser.
For example, you can:
Bake cookies, wash cars, organize a knitting marathon, take part in a running contest, play the violin in a shopping mall, collect empty bottles, become a living statue, and so on, and more importantly, ask people to sponsor you.
MAKE THE ACTION PAGE YOUR PAGE
An action page with a few personal photos and texts will result in more donations. Therefore, upload a few pictures of yourself and explain why you started the fundraiser. The majority of your supporters will donate because they like you and are curious about your reason to start this fundraiser.
FIRST A FEW DONATIONS, THEN SPREAD THE NEWS
Before you spread the news about your fundraiser, it's wise to already have some donations. First, ask your family and best friends for a donation before you ask other people to donate. A good example tends to be followed.
PUT THE LINK OF YOUR ACTION PAGE IN THE SIGNATURE TEXT OF YOUR EMAILS
Put the link of your action page in the signature of all your emails so that everyone who you are emailing will see your action.
PERSUADE VERBALLY AND USE YOUR SMARTPHONE
Tell at work, school, association, cafeteria and parties about the fundraiser you have started. Ask them directly to sponsor and do not wait until they are home. With the use of a smartphone, everyone can easily view and donate to your action. Bookmark your action page in your mobile web browser.
SEND WHATSAPP & TEXT MESSAGES
Create a WhatsApp group with contacts who know each other. Ask for their support and refer to your action page. Thank the donors in this group so that all group members will see it. This makes it more likely that others feel involved and will support your action. If one sheep leaps over the ditch the rest will follow.
POST UPDATES REGULARLY ON FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND/OR LINKEDIN
The action page can be shared in various ways through social media. Tell your Facebook, Twitter and/or LinkedIn friends regularly about the progress of your action. It is important to repeat the message. Examples of status updates:
If you are going to prepare a lecture, talk about it. Thank people in public every time you get a donation. Because when others see this, they will be more inclined to do this as well. It really helps!
MAKE NEWSITEMS FOR THE WEBSITE AND SHARE THIS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
You can easily post news on your action page. And do not forget to share your message afterwards via Facebook, Twitter and/or LinkedIn (see tip 6).
INVOLVE YOUR DONORS WITH YOUR FINAL SPRINT!
Experience shows that the donations will be highest in the last two weeks of your fundraiser. That's the final sprint of your fundraiser. Use this wisely and ask your donors for their help. They will also want you to reach your target amount.
APPROACH COMPANIES TO SPONSOR YOU
Do not forget to approach companies to sponsor you, for example your employer, a good customer, a good supplier. As a thank you, you can write a special news article and mention their name in it. Or post their logo as an image on your action page.
HANG IN THERE; KEEP REMINDING PEOPLE!
Not everyone will donate immediately. Send reminders or WhatsApp messages if they do not have donated yet. Persevere!
